I’m a Generation N Latina, and my parents felt that teaching us Spanish would lead to discrimination for their children. Speaking only English did help me to “fit in” with my Anglo peers in school....
The SEA LIFE Aquarium at the Mall of America in Minnesota once again hosted a group of sweet animals for a special field trip at the facilities in an effort to promote adoption. According to the aquarium, they hosted the Bitty Kitty Brigade, a foster-based rescue that specifically works with orphaned kittens aged zero to six weeks, before opening hours on Thursday. As June is National Adopt-a-Cat month according to American Humane, SEA LIFE and Bitty Kitty Brigade teamed up to both socialize the cats as well as raise awareness for the organization....
In the first video posted to her account yesterday, Eckstein shows viewers a montage of clips that show Parker pushing Dolly in a swing, napping with Dolly and even feeding the doll fruit. The TikTok post has already received more than 2 million views. Commenters found Parker’s fascination with the doll hilarious. “Naw, this is the funniest thing,” said Laura. “I’m literally in tears,” said another commenter. One commenter joked that author Stephen King would soon be using the TikTok as inspiration for his next novel, while others warned Eckstein that the doll is eerily reminiscent of Annabelle, the infamous possessed doll from The Conjuring....

Popular TikToker @ellawatchestv_ shared the post which received more than 2,200 comments from cat lovers, with many joking about Ella’s peculiar habit. But Ella’s TV habit is actually more common than many would think. Cats are known for their intelligence and curiosity, and since cats require mental stimulation and are highly responsive to sounds and visuals, many cat owners turn on the TV to help keep their cats from getting bored....

Ivan Stepanov is a simulation engineer who was born in the city of Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan, which is just under 100 miles away from a site where Soviet authorities once tested most of their nuclear weapons. This experience had a profound impact on Stepanov and was one of the reasons he decided to begin developing his Nuclear War Simulator (NWS), an advanced nuclear conflict simulation and visualization tool. “The biggest motivation to create this software is the constant threat of nuclear war,” Stepanov, who now lives in Germany, where he studied physics at university, told Newsweek....

GROUP D (Central Zone): FC Istiklol 1-0 FC Alay (Fatkhulloev 48') Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol maintained their dominance atop Group D with a 1-0 win over FC Alay on Wednesday. At Hisor Central Stadium, FC Istiklol were dominant right from start as FC Alay barely held on. However, they could not force an opening and had to wait till the 48th minute to score the opeing goal. Sheriddin Boboev was fouled inside the area and Fatkhulloev stroked the penalty home....
Ahmad Shah had been dispatched along with 14 others to a checkpoint on the edge of Kandahar but was left as the sole officer when the advancing Taliban attacked. He was the only officer who did not surrender to the Taliban and continued to fight against the rapidly advancing force. Despite being wounded, Shah held on for 18 hours until reinforcements, who were sent to push the Taliban back, rescued him....
