The Astros, meanwhile, arrived into the playoffs as the favorite to win a second title in three years but needed five games to have the better of the Rays, after blowing a 2-0 lead....

Baldwin and Hutchins were working on Rust, a Western being filmed in New Mexico, when the incident occurred on Thursday. No immediate charges have been filed, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to the Associated Press. A spokesperson for Alec Baldwin described the shooting as an accident due to the misfire of a prop gun with blanks. The incident has rattled many industry figures who are questioning if the correct gun safety protocols were being practiced on set....

The screen star, 63, hit headlines when a gun he was handling on the New Mexico set of Rust on October 21, 2021 discharged, leaving cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and writer-director Joel Souza injured. He was found guilty in all four cases, Elizabeth Williamson, a New York Times reporter, tweeted Monday morning. Next, trials will be held to determine how much Jones will pay the families of the victims in damages. Judge Barbara Bellis issued a default against Jones for his and his companies “failure to produce critical material information that the plaintiffs needed to prove their claims,” the Associated Press reported. Lawyers for the children’s families claimed his lawyers violated court rules by not turning over documents to them, including company documents that would show if Jones profited from spreading conspiracies about the shooting....

A jury in Connecticut on Wednesday ordered Jones to pay the families of eight Sandy Hook victims and an FBI agent who responded to the 2012 school shooting a total of $965 million for falsely claiming that the massacre was a hoax. Jones was also ordered to pay family members nearly $50 million in August following a separate trial in Texas. The Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, is the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in American history....
