“Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, AOC and the rest of the Democrats are not getting important legislation done, hence, the Do Nothing Democrats,” the president tweeted on Sunday. “USMCA, National Defense Authorization Act, Gun Safety, Prescription Drug Prices, & Infrastructure are dead in the water because of the Dems!”

In response, Ocasio-Cortez corrected the president’s allegation that she has done nothing and encouraged him to “try to keep up” with her actions in Congress.

“In my first 11 months I’ve cosponsored 339 pieces of legislation, authored 15, took on Big Pharma w/ my colleagues in hearings that brought PreP generic a year early & exposed abuse of power,” the 30-year-old freshman Democrat tweeted. “In 4 years, you’ve jailed kids & made corruption the cause celebré. Try to keep up.”

The president this morning launched a series of tweets criticizing members of the Democratic Party and defending himself against impeachment allegations. “Democrats going back to their Districts for Thanksgiving are getting absolutely hammered by their constituents over the phony Impeachment Scam,” he wrote. “Republicans will have a great #2020 Election!”

“Witch Hunt!” Trump added in another tweet, alongside a post by GOP Congressman Steve Scalise calling for Democrats to “end this impeachment charade.”

He also took aim at Ocasio-Cortez in one specific post, where he shared a new Republican National Committee (RNC) advertisement that showed Democrats calling for his impeachment. “This is the real story behind the Do Nothing Democrats!” the president tweeted.

In the clip, Ocasio-Cortez, who has previously described herself as a democratic socialist, can be heard saying: “This is about preventing a potentially disastrous outcome from occurring next year.”

In October, the New York congresswoman officially threw her support behind Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign at a rally in Queens, after the progressive candidate suffered from a heart attack.

She stood alongside Sanders in front of a crowd of roughly 25,000 people as she announced her endorsement. “Bernie Sanders proved you can run a grassroots campaign and win in an America where we almost thought that was impossible,” she said at the time.

Later, Ocasio-Cortez told NBC that her choice to support Sanders “wasn’t even about helping the senator. It was a moment of clarity for me personally in saying, What role do I want to play? And I want to be a part of a mass movement.”
