Alex Ovechkin Dodges Serious Injury In Scary Collision

Slava Malamud reported on Twitter that the severity of the injury won’t be known today.

“(The hit was) on the knee and there is nothing pleasant about that. I hope it will be OK,” Yevgeny Kuznetsove said, according to Malamud.

A YouTube video of the hit showed Ovechkin being upended and landed hard on the ice.



The 28-year-old Ovechkin has played all nine of his NHL seasons in Washington.

UPDATE: Ovechkin seems to have dodged any serious damage.

He tweeted a photo of himself giving a thumbs up early on Sunday evening.
