To the surprise of no one, Alabama is once again ranked atop the AP’s poll, with 42 of 61 possible first-place votes. No. 2 Clemson (18 first-place votes), No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 5 Ohio State round out the top five teams.

The SEC and Big Ten are tied for the most teams represented on the list, with five apiece. The Pac-12, ACC and Big 12 each have four represented, while two Group of 5 teams (UCF and Boise State) earned a spot as well. Independent Notre Dame rounds out the list.

One thing of note: Apart from Alabama and Clemson, Wisconsin is the only other team to claim a first-place vote. The Badgers also upended the Buckeyes as the Big Ten’s top-rated preseason team, the first time that has happened since Michigan topped the Big Ten in the 2012 preseason poll.
