Instead, Jones agreed to a civil compromise in which he would make a $10,000 donation to a charitable organization benefitting the homeless as restitution.
On July 31, Jones was leaving a Portland bar when he walked by two homeless men sleeping in a doorway and proceeded to yell "wake up!" at the men before allegedly stomping on the legs of one of the men, according to the police report.
The man suffered a minor injury that did not require immediate medical attention.
Ironically, Jones and the Rockets are due to arrive in Portland later this week as Game 3 of the first-round series tips off in Rip City on Friday evening.
Jones is averaging 14.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in Houston's last 10 games.
