Undrafted free agent running back LaVance Taylor, out of Division II Central Missouri, sent his highlight tape to every team on Twitter in hopes of getting noticed. It worked.

The Chiefs announced the signing of Taylor just a day after he tweeted them.

It’s unlikely there’s a direct correlation between Taylor tweeting the team and getting signed. A more likely reason is that Kansas City’s only running back suffered an injury in the team’s pre-camp period which features rookies and quarterbacks. The team needed a body and signed a local kid.

Whatever the case may be, it’s still a neat story. Taylor’s father was the one who told him to send out his highlight reel.

“The worst they can say is no or not reply,” Taylor said his father told him, via ESPN.

He’s still a long shot to make the roster, but that won’t knock his hustle. He’s happy where he’s at right now.

“I’m a Kansas City guy anyway. That’s where I was born and raised. I loved it when they called me.”
