As such, it turned out to be a surprise of sorts when Jeju United won 2-0 against Urawa in the first leg of the tie this week. Marcelo Toscano’s early goal set them on their way while Jin Seong-Uk finished the game off with a late goal to give Jeju the advantage, going into the second leg.

But in between all this were a clutch of fantastic saves from Jeju United’s 32-year-old custodian Kim Ho-Jun who put in a virtuoso display between the sticks, keeping the lethal Urawa attack at bay for the whole 90 minutes.

It was indeed a sensational display from the South Korean goalkeeper who pulled off six saves and maintaining a 100% save ratio in the game. He enjoyed 43 touches of the ball and played out 30 passes to his teammates during the course of the game.

If he maintains this level of performance in the second leg as well, Jeju United might just make it to the AFC Champions League quarterfinals without breaking a sweat. It was a no-brainer to select Kim Ho-Jun as Goal’s Asian Player of the Week.
