Testing positive for marijuana or any other such drug is a violation of his bond conditions. The Montgomery County district attorney’s office would like the presiding judge to put aside Peterson’s $15,000 bond and put him in jail.
MORE: The danger of Peterson rushing to trial
On Wednesday, Peterson learned that his tentative trial date would be at the earliest on Dec. 1, too late to play in the NFL again in 2014. A potential arrest if he did indeed fail a drug test could be delayed, though. There is a recusal hearing for the current judge on Friday. That could also mean a later trial date, as well.
Peterson faces charges of reckless or negligent injury toward his 4-year-old son. He was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, which means he is serving an indefinite paid leave from the Minnesota Vikings.
