CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora says the prosecutor in the case signaled his willingness to discuss an agreement.
Peterson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, has said the case “will be up to a judge and jury to decide, which is the way it should be.”
Peterson is charged with felony injury to a child, punishable by up to two years in jail and a $1,000 fine. He told police he “whupped” his 4-year-old son with a switch earlier this year but did not intend to harm the boy.
A plea deal could put Peterson back on the field quickly. The Vikings on Wednesday placed him on the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List and barred him from all team activities until his legal issues are resolved.
