Bringing together some of the best, and most technically gifted street footballers on the island, the league saw eight teams aged 16-25 take to the concrete in a battle for footballing glory, a cash prize of $1,500 and a one-year boot deal for the MVP.
Joseph Lee, Brand Manager of adidas Singapore shared, “The first edition of Tango League in Singapore has been a success. It’s been great watching the youth footballing community in Singapore come together and celebrate the intersection of sport and street culture. We are looking to plan the next edition and will look to make Tango League even bigger and better, with more opportunities to promote the sport among our youths in Singapore.”
Winning the MVP of the tournament and a one-year boot deal was youth football star and three-goal hero, 21 year-old Iqram Rifqi. Speaking of the opportunity, he heaped praise on his teammates and said, “I would like to thank my teammates for all their support as without them I wouldn’t have won MVP. The teamwork too was important as without it we wouldn’t have won all our matches.” He went on to share his thoughts on the inaugural league saying “The event was grand and it was a huge pleasure to take part.”
