Wambach, 35, was arrested at 2:02 a.m. local time on Sunday and charged with misdemeanor DUI after running a red light. Police reportedly administered a field sobriety test that Wambach failed and she was taken to a local jail.

Wambach claims that the arrest came after she had dinner at a friend’s house. In an apology posted on Facebook later Sunday, she said “I have always demanded excellence from myself. I have let myself and others down.”
Despite admitting guilt and taking responsibility for her actions earlier this week after being arrested, Wambach entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday at the Multnomah County Courthouse in Portland, according to TMZ Sports.
Wambach is due back in court at the end of the month to continue her fight against the charges.
