Even with Hernandez found guility of first-degree murder in the killing of Odin Lloyd, the former New England Patriots star still faces an indictment for a double murder in 2012. That trial, which will begin now that this trial has concluded, will get underway soon. Here’s a timeline of how Hernandez has gotten to this point:

Sept. 30, 2007 — Two men are shot in Gainesville, Fla., and four Florida football players are questioned, including freshman tight end Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez remains a person of interest  in the case.

July 16, 2012 — Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado are killed in a drive-by shooting in Boston’s South End. Police initially had no suspects. The Boston Globe reports on the incident , which at the time had no immediate connection to Hernandez.

Aug. 27, 2012 — Hernandez, a rising star with the New England Patriots, signs a $41 million contract , the second-largest ever for a tight end. He donated $50,000 to a charity, touching the heart of the team’s owner.

Feb. 13, 2013 — Alexander Bradley is found shot on the side of a road in Riviera Beach, Fla., hours after spending an evening with Hernandez at a Miami strip club.

June 17, 2013 — The body of Odin Lloyd, a semipro football player, is found in an industrial park in North Attleboro, Mass., near Hernandez’s home.

June 19, 2013 — A civil suit is filed against Hernandez  by Alexander Bradley for allegedly shooting him in Florida in February.

June 21, 2013 — Video surfaces placing Hernandez and Lloyd together the night of the killing ; Hernandez’s trips to lawyers and a gas station are tracked by media helicopters.

June 26, 2013 — Hernandez is arrested at his North Attleboro home and  charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd . The Patriots release Hernandez.

Aug. 22, 2013 — A grand jury in Bristol County, Mass., indicts Hernandez in the murder of Lloyd .

Sept. 6, 2013 — Hernandez pleads not guilty to Odin Lloyd murder indictment.

Dec. 19, 2013 — Family of Odin Lloyd files wrongful death suit against Hernandez.

Jan. 16, 2014 — Boston police documents connect Hernandez to the 2012 double slaying for the first time.

May 15, 2014 — Hernandez is  indicted for the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado .

May 28, 2014 — Hernandez pleads not guilty in 2012 double murder. Prosecutors claim the motive stemmed from an argument over a spilled drink .

Nov. 25, 2014 — The trial for the 2012 slayings is delayed indefinitely .

Jan. 29, 2015 — Hernandez’s trial for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd begins in Fall River, Mass., with opening arguments from both sides .

Feb. 10, 2015 — Judge Susan Garsh approves the prosecution’s request to grant Hernandez’s fiancee Shayanna Jenkins immunity . Jenkins can now be held in contempt of court if she refuses to take the stand.

March 26, 2015 — A bomb threat is called in to Bristol County Courthouse mid-testimony, prompting an evacuation of the building and a two-hour delay in proceedings. It was not known if the threat was related to Hernandez’s trial.

March 30, 2015 — Jenkins wraps up 10 hours on the stand spanning two days . She is asked about a mysterious box Hernandez told her to dispose of. Prosecutors believe the box contained the murder weapon, a .45-caliber Glock, which has not been recovered.

March 31, 2015 — Patriots owner Robert Kraft and director of security Mark Briggs are called as witnesses.  Kraft and Briggs both testified  Hernandez told them he was innocent in having a role in Lloyd’s death.

April 2, 2015 — The prosecution rests its case  after calling 131 witnesses over 39 days.

April 6, 2015 —  The defense rests its case after calling three witnesses, including a “PCP expert” whose testimony seemed to better aid the prosecution’s case. Hernandez’s lawyers did most of their work during cross-examination of the prosecution’s witnesses.

April 7, 2015 — Attorneys for both the prosecution and defense present 90-minute closing arguments. The case is then turned over to the 12-person jury for deliberation. 

April 15, 2015 — Aaron Hernandez found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Odin Lloyd.
